Important Preparation indicators for IELTS Exam

This article has been written based on the inputs from the experts and the feedback received from our former students who had already appeared in the examination and obtained fabulous scores in their IELTS Exam and were kind enough to share their experiences with us.

We thought to take the opportunity to spread the inputs received from champs on this important topic who can help others to prepare well for their exams.

 

Identify within you….Why IELTS?

In the very first place, the Idea has to be very clear and firm as to why you want to appear for IELTS Classes in Kolkata as it motivates you to prepare well for the examination and get good scores. Once you identify, go for it and start preparing by yourself otherwise having a mentor is always advisable.

 

Practice as much as you can

Practice is the key for any exam, but when it comes to language communication (Speaking), it is very important that you can express anything in a very effective way and you can do it when you have the skill and experience to communicate or you are familiar with the language.

However, the question here is…how to Practice?? Don´t worry, I am not asking to have somebody to communicate with J

Approach to Practice your English Communication…

Record yourself answering IELTS practice questions. You can then listen back to the recording and try identifying your mistakes. Don´t be surprised to hear about your mistakes in the very 1st place, as this approach will give you evidence of where you need to improve.

 

Know the exam

Important thing is to understand what exactly you will be graded on in the IELTS exam and prepare yourself accordingly, which will give you the best you expect from the exam. In other words, you need to focus on the things that matter and ignore those which do not.

There are only four areas that you should focus on for your speaking preparation:

Pronunciation

Grammar range and accuracy

Speaking Fluency

Vocabulary

 

Surround yourself with English

To perform to the best of your ability in the speaking test, you need to be familiar with receiving (Listening) and producing (Speaking) the English language before your exam.

In addition, to do this, you need to have an environment of English around you to become familiar with the language. A great way of improving your speech recognition and production skills is by making an effort to speak in English when you usually do not.

Watching TV programs or YouTube channels of your choice may help here to create an environment and develop your interest to be with the language.

 

Increase Diction

You need to work off-course on your English diction to make it more effective. We have identified a few approaches, which help students increase their diction.

Read any article, which is of your interest just not to get bored and pick up a few words, of which you are not aware.

In the second step Record them somewhere in your notepad or notebook for their future use. Frame the sentence by using these new words, which you have identified. Practice this exercise and increase the frequency while you prepare for your exam.

You must use interesting vocabulary, which makes your communication more effective while you are in the exam. Always advisable to use some idioms which are easy to fit in. Part 3, since it is quite formal, so you should use formal words.

 

 

Be Patient

Be Patient and prepare well for the examination, don´t think much about the result just prepare well by keeping all criterias in mind. Give a justified time for preparation and give your exam. Stay calm and look for the result.
